Oceanside advice.

Hi yall. I'm planning to launch from del mar tomorrow. Taking a few friends out and gonna try a new spot. I've never fished in oceanside. I heard the AR are pretty good. Can anyone help? Thanks

I'd definitely go north to the AR2. Much more structure on that group. If you're not going to fish live bait I would try plastics and small yoyo jigs/plastics. If you are using live bait anchovies are the way to go out there. Really productive spot for bass. Other species I've caught there: sheepshead, cabezon, halibut, thresher sharks, rockfish, I'm sure there are a few more. There are numbers for the reef online if you google Oceanside artificial reef 2, you should see plenty of spots. The key is to stay on the structure, and I mean right on top. I like to use half screen NAV and half sonar. Working with those in unison should really help you stay on your marks. PM me if you can't find numbers online. I can give you a couple that have worked well for me.

The inside AR2 reefs can be productive for Calico and Sandbass with the occasional Halibut and Sheepshead. The deeper ones are good for anything. Recently have gotten some BSB out there so hold onto your poles.

From an un-named website that gives out the dope on fishing...

"Oceanside
One of the best bets to find a Yellowtail willing to bite on the coast is in this area right now."

The fish are deep; dropper loop macs and yoyo. Have fun and as PapaDave said, "hold onto your poles."

:cheers1:
