Line Counters

I'm still pretty new to kayak fishing so I thought I'd throw this out to you seasoned guys. Does anyone ever use a line counter reel to know when you're "in the zone"? When you're picking up marks on your FF at 100', how do you know when you're working the right depth...besides the obvious :reel: And if you do, what are your recommendations for a good LC reel? Thanks!

Unless you are straight up and down with no wind or current 100 could be 75 or 100. Maybe you can see your bait or jig on your finder?

Thanks makobob; i'm guessing your response means "no", you don't use them and I see your point about the wind and current...good point! I couldn't see much on my old Mark 4 but I just got a new HDS 5 so maybe seeing my lure is a possibility, I haven't been out with it yet...but soon!

If your bait/iron is in the sonar cone of the HDS 5 then you will see it.
