Thought I caught a world record....

Was out fishing some of our local rockfish with a shimano flatfall jig...and what do you know..? I hang a good one! Now granted this is not that big of a fish overall but for what it is....it's a GIANT! I can't say that I have ever caught one this big before...and I have caught about a million rockfish in my fishing carrer....

It's a HUGE BARBERPOLE!!!!
Not quite the all tackle world record of 3 pounds 3 oz....but pretty damn close...Mine weighed in at a respectable 2 pounds 8 oz  !

That is a monster barber. Im curious how you were working the flat fall for rock fish? That had never occurred to me.

Reel Anxious 04-14-2015 12:21 PM

Just getting it down to the bottom metering fish and bouncing it, nothing fancy. The flatfall seems to work pretty good as a rockfish jig, it seems to sink at a reasonable rate, the rockfish do seem to like it.

That's the best!

Zed 04-14-2015 02:41 PM

Just because of your weird-ass response, you are going to get two sand dabs in your truck next time.
