Homemade Kayak Rack

I took the concept from here:

This took about 1/2 hour to make once I purchased all the parts. Cost about $50 for parts. Was worth it because my kayak was being stored on its wheels, which isn't ideal. Fun Labor Day project. It stands about 26" high, and is about 27" wide. My kayak is 29" wide.

Got the materials to do the same. Just to damn hot outside to put it together.

Nice rack. Hers is what I use, works perfect its adjustable and folds up for easy storage.

I made one of those, at some point the straps will fail. Hobies are pretty heavy

I have a Quest, which is 60lbs - the lightest by far of all Hobie fishing kayaks. I can see it potentially failing if it were a PA, but if I had a PA I would simply get stronger straps.

I prefer to store my kayaks upside down. The gunwales are much stronger than the hull bottom.

Couple of set of sawhorse joints and some 2x4s. They stack out of the way pretty easily and don't take up too much room.
