roof rack for honda accord

Hey all!!

I'm wondering if anyone has any advice when it comes to roof racks. I had to sell my truck since I had our second child and now have a 4 door 2005 Honda accord. Needless to say my Stealth 14 has been dry docked ever since:( does anyone have any answers regarding transporting my heavy ass yak on top of my car? I don't want to spend a million dollars . Thanks!

roof rack for honda accord

My buddy transports his all the time on his civic without a rack. He just places a towel or blanket on the roof then ties it down in the front and back and uses a ratchet strap over the kayak through the back windows.

It's worked well for him

Just for clarification he places it with the bottom of the hull facing up so the flat part of the kayak is on his roof

Use Yakima or Thule racks and you will be fine. I used mine for a fish and dive and then a Trident 15 on my Accord that I had. Still have the racks in the garage. Collecting dust. Guess I should post them for sale 😀

If you don't want to get a full rack system Yakima and Thule have inexpensive foam cradles that you put on your roof, and they include the straps that you wrap around your boat (through the inside of your car) and bow and stern straps.

Thanks for the info! What would you want for your rack system?

I have a set of Inno roof racks for 2000 Toyota Avalon that is sitting in garage as well ever since I got a truck & sold my Avalon, you can have them for $125 if interested (see my old post here: http://www.bigwatersedge.com/bwevb/s...ad.php?t=26299), you probably just need to get the rubber feet for your Accord to ensure 100% fit.

Description:
• Complete Inno Roof Rack system with lock keys, with fit hook set for 2000 Toyota Avalon
• 54" rectangular cross bars
• Details here if interested: http://www.cargogear.com/OneItemInfo...rtnum=INTAVA00

I would also suggest getting saddles to really get a secure hold for your stealth. It's another thing to pay for, but you can drive with a peace of mind that your boat is secure.

I have the Yakima roof rack Q-Towers set with cam lock, 48" bars, 58" bars I have both. Saddle I have them too. Faring to displace the wind tunnel effect. Let me know if your interested. The q clip is the only thing you might want to purchase to clamp down on your accord.
