Shimano Teramar 7'11" MH casting rod - $95 (good deal?)
http://www.westmarine.com/buy/shiman...od--P014119804
$105ish for this Teramar, after tax, seems like a good deal to me to pair with my Daiwa Lexa 300 for calico fishing. Can anyone chime in on if its a good price and also if its a good rod for Calicos? |
I have the exact same rod and reel combo. I use it for rockfishing and it is my all around inshore combo. It's lite enough to cast all day and strong enough to reel in a few small sharks last year. I think you'll be happy with it. I'm going to use it for some calicos this weekend.

That is an amazing deal.
I have the exact setup you want to create. This rod with a Lexa 300 HD, and it is my favorite setup to date. I have landed small yellowfin tuna, dorado, tons of calico and tons of bonito on this setup. Make sure to get the Power handle on your Lexa! |

I have two of those rods that I bought from West Marine when Shimano stopped making the model with the full cork handle, (which I happen to prefer). They're great rods in my opinion and I've caught all kinds of bass, halibut and yellowtail on them. Light action tip but medium heavy in the butt (that's what she said), pretty much will deal with most inshore fishing needs.
