Redondo Critter Hunting (6/14/16)

After getting some poo rockfish from the sewer it became apparent that I needed some "cleaner" fish for eating. Thus, I set my sights out for Redondo and the canyon that runs near it. Long story short, I managed to get lucky and drift over a bunch of rocks and picked up these two tasty critters.

Got them on Tako rigged on a dropper loop and 6oz torpedo.

If it interests you the Spanish Macs and Greenies were all over the place in the 60-75' zones near the edge of the canyon. Got a bunch of those for the grill and the dogs.

Were you out there on a dune colored Hobie this morning around 9:30 or so? I often have my coffee down at the Esplanade around Avenue A (or Avenue B) and sip my coffee while glassing the water with my binoculars looking for life, or whatever. I sometimes see what I think might be fellow yak fisherman from Baytubers or BWE and am curious is all. Tempted to bring my VHF one of these mornings and try hailing Team Sewer on Ch. 69 just to say "hello" and see what's biting.

Can't wait for school to get out for my teen boys, that'll free up my fishing opportunities a lot I hope, and plan to get out there myself.

Looks like you got enough for some nice fish tacos anyway! :cheers1:

Tight lines!

Do you have a motor on that thing? I couldn't tell for sure, but I thought I saw you moving pretty fast but couldn't see your legs on a mirage drive, but then you were pretty far away. Just curious as I have a BassYaks on my Stealth 14 is all.

Perhaps we can fish together one of these days... still learning the area myself...

No motor, just conditioned legs lol. I was getting 2.5-3.7kts according to navionics. Kinda wish I had the Revo 16 so I can fly across the water.

Yeah. That sounds like a plan. I'll hit you up the next time I go to Redondo.

He has been known to cheat with performance enhancing baits.
