Newport, 8-28-17
Launched at 6:45 with Landwhale. Air was cool with a pretty good breeze out of the west. lots of marine layer too. Water was 71-72º with some loose eel grass.
We worked the buoy line following the outgoing tide. We drifted all the way to the bait barge (lots of boats and yaks fishing it) and waited for the tide to take us back. It took a while for the current to start moving. Eventually with the help of the wind, which had shifted to come out of the south west, we drifted back to and along the buoy line. Steve did ok today with 11 bass, and I struggled to get my 5. Only 1 legal for me. 2 colors stuck out for me; 4" houdini Paddlerz, and 4" Kalin grub in chartreuse sparkle. All the baits were on a 1/2oz Coolbaits underspin. Off the water about 10:45. |
Thanks for the report!
Sounds like a good morning overall. Although I can't help but wonder was this a prediction report for the future "8/28/17" :):D Thanks again |
DOH! Thanks, just looked at my watch without thinking. I set it wrong yesterday. Explains why the tide function was off.

No sign of the flat kind?

Thanks for report, I guess I need to fish the tides in the Harbor if I want to play with bass. Usually I head out to kelp beds first then hit the harbor.

good report Ed, I didn't make it to San Diego today, we're going tomorrow instead. How is it you can fish in the future and I can't hardly make it in the present?
|
Thanks for the report Ed :cheers1:
