Seakeeper for a Kayak???
Just for the sake of conversation, I wonder if somebody will ever engineer a compact gyroscopic stabilizer for a kayak. After seeing this device by ‘Seakeeper’, I thought only military tactical vehicles only had such applications for stabilization, but now I’m wondering if anybody would build one for a better kayak experience.
If it is possible, it will probably take some serious battery power. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwQbtU6Wa04 https://www.seakeeper.com https://www.instagram.com/seakeeper_inc/ |
Franks got one on order for his Super 17 PA. :D :D :D

Probably not the best idea for a kayak (or anything else with a low rail). Swell and chop will just pour over the side if you cannot roll with it.

They have them in a couple Radio Controlled car applications, but I agree with the post above. Gotta roll with motion of the ocean.

Thought about this a few years ago when I first saw the seakeeper. It sure would make a fast skinny yak more comfortable for us old balance-challenged guys. We'd probably beach land our yaks sideways without even needing to brace as well.
