Quick Question
 

So i'ts pretty clear that the main majority of spotted bay bass reside in our bays. My question is, where were these fish before The man made bays were created? If residing along our coast like the rest of the bass species, why do we not see larger numbers being caught from ocean spots?\

Same way the halibut get to the islands....if there is a niche, something will fill it. Intrepid little fishies.

California had plenty of natural bay and wetland areas prior to the development of our coast that provided plenty of natural habitat for the spotted bay bass (spotted sand bass). In fact, it is estimated that we have lost more than 90% of our natural wetland habitat due to development, agriculture, industrial pollution, etc. The spottie has simply been able to adapt and flourish in the protected waters of our man-made bays.

The habitats that the spottie used to call home, for the most part, no longer exist. The man-made bays have replaced those habitats.
