South bay report & ugly find

I don't post too often but I can't let this one go. I launched out of J Street before sun up and was landing spotties as the sun was rising. Managed about 15 bass, 2 small halibut, and a yellowfin craoker over the grass beds and then paddled south to the end of the bird reserve island. I don't often catch much down there but it is a cool place to see birds and the occational sea turtle. Well I got to see a sea turtle all right; bloated and decaying in a damned gill net. I called the harbor police when I got home and made a report. They said if the water wasn't too shallow they'e get the net out of there. I metered 14' there at high tide. Mike

Man, that sucks. Why the hell would there be a gill net in the south bay?!

Good going on reporting it to the police. Hopefully they give a shit.

Well first and foremost that is awful!! But who uses gill nets other than scientists nowadays? Good job calling the cops Mike!
