Need report from the launch

The surf looks fairly large today when viewed from the Webcam. The forecast is for rising surf. I am planning on going out Thursday or Friday. Anyone have a first hand report to share?

yea i went out today. wasnt that bad, its been worse. went out in a zodiac. waited for the surf to die down a little for like 5 minutes then walked the boat out past the surf and hopped in. got a little bit of water in the boat during the landing though

Definitely do-able this morning. There was an occasional bigger swell but they were well spaced so easy to time. It was a very low tide launch which I don't like since that seems to bunch up the swells.

Surf wasnt too bad today. Some sneaker sets coming throught about 1.5 to 2 feet. The intervals are pretty consistent.

Wow! That is unusual there.

Got stung about 4-5 years ago surf fishing in Torrey Pines, but they always had so much little shellfish in the surf, just assumed the 'rays were in the area feeding on them. Definitely saw many.

But, the launch is usually clear at La Jolla, and all you see are leopards down below.

Been stung by sculpins a couple of times, too. I'd say the pain from the 'ray was worse, both immediately and long term (at least 10 days).
What a relief it was to get my foot into hot water, though.

I was shuffling out to launch on sunday and good thing. I scared one that I would have for sure stepped on.
