Couple of new builds

Lately I've been building quite a few rods, and doing some repairs. So I thought I'd just share some pictures of some of the most recent rods I have built.

The blue tiger wrapped rod below was an OLD Sabre (one of the ones still made in the good ol' USA) I saved from the trash practically! I completely stripped the guides, sanded down the blank, and refinished the fiberglass.
The pics below might show a few stray blemishes from frayed threads, but these pics were before I put on the next coat of finish.

This lime green metallic rod is a Calstar 800H that I've been building. Most 800H's are deckhand style, but I opted for the Perfection aluminum reel seat with hypalon grips. This thing is a broom stick and is perfect paired up with a Sealine 40 SHA.
Josh (J mo) gave me the idea to use Pac Bay SIC Turbo guides. They're spendy but are SUPER tough. Plus the silicone carbide will stand the test of time when fished with spectra.

The red and black rod is a Varmac D2-7 I recently wrapped for a customer. The Varmac blanks that Squidco sells are terrific, and you can't beat the price. I opted for an open cross wrap to incorporate the black color of the blank with the guide wraps.

The purple and gold rod was just a quicky that I whipped out. It was originally a EVA foam grip, that I converted to a split grip. IMO it turned out well despite the short length of the grip to begin with.
