Sealing leaky rivets
It's not a big deal, but I noticed I get a fair amount of water coming through the rivets on my X-13. I want to try to seal them up because when ever I launch through any sizable surf, I end up with a fair amount of water inside.
Does anyone have experience trying to seal up their rivets after the fact? Would just a dab of marine goop on each one do the trick, or should I find something thinner that would flow better into the rivet? I'm afraid a glob of goop on top of a J-hook rivet won't last long. Thanks for sharing your experience! |
a dab off goop on the inside part of the rivet would be fine.
when drilling holes or installing stuff on the kayak put a dab of goop down then put the rivet in. :cheers1: I get a little water from hatch seel and rivet holes. but its never more than a cups worth for a long days fishing. doesnt bug me much. |

If I had this problem, I would drill out the rivets, apply the goop and re-rivet. That would solve the problem for good.
