After the YES, NO, YES, NO DRAMA with the Warden I finally got the green light to go out. Met up with BRYGUTH aka Bryan at the sailboat launch about 1730, Ful-Rac and his buddy (forgot his name) were already there getting there yaks ready, launched shortly after 1800. Compared to last week Sunday the launch was a breeze, paddled to the southern island and found that my favorite spot was wide open, no hoops in the area.

Bryan and I split up and we start dropping drop our nets in 25'-30' of water, got all 5 nets of my nets in the water about 30 minutes before darkness and hung out with Bryguth for a few minutes. 1st pull produces 2 bugs with 1 keeper, 2nd pull was a blank, 3rd pull produces a 2nd keeper, 4th and 5th are blanks. Meet up with Bryan, no love for him.

After hanging out for a few minutes I go for my second pull, 1st net produces another keep and a short, 2nd net produces a shorty, 3rd, 4th and 5th are blanks. Met up with Brian to find that he had finally had one, measured it and its right on the money, measured it again and its a little short, measured it a third time and now the gauge fits over the carapace. After debating for a minute or two Brian made the call to toss it.......better safe than sorry.

Unfortunately, just as quick as the crawl started it ended. We had some drama with two boaters, one almost ran over one of my nets and the other got his prop all tangled with one of Bryan's nets. I'm talking to the boater boater that almost ran over my net, I tell him to be extremely careful with the bouys, his response.......I THOUGHT THEY WERE PARKING STALLS. Bryan spent about 10-15 minutes with the other boater trying to save his line, after some flipping, twisting and turning they finally got the line off the prop.

The water was like a lake, temp felt like it was in the 70's with a really light breeze blowing. Decided to call it a night right just before 2200 with three keepers and a skunk for Bryan....you'll get-em next time!! Can wait to get out there again!!!

Easy peezy lemon squeezy. Dragging out is a breeze, going back wasn't as easy but definately easier than dragging it from Ocean Blvd. Only bad thing about this launch is that the ticket machine doesn't have a card reader.....cash only.
