If you are re-using desiccant or it was not in a ziplock or jsut to be safe, bake it first to get all the moisture out of it. No need to add moisture inside the unit. Dielectric grease works great...

My biggest rod caught seabass (30#) halibut (26#) and calico (8#11oz) were all taken on 15 # test with a plastic and plenty of offshore tuna/dodos/YTs.

Try Ebay if you don't have any luck. I had two new newells but they never worked right. One is on the bottom of the ocean. The other I gave to an enemy.
