County Animal Care Services will only respond to incidents that are reported to them. My guess is that this bite has not been reported to ACS. They would get psyched up for bats because rabies is...

Hmm...have to admit I'm confused. I just checked the Accurate website and they don't even list a size 50 DPX2 reel. Did you get it used, and maybe it's a BX2-50 reel? In any event, a 50 sized reel...

You said a 50 sized reel, but I assume you meant a 500 sized reel. The 2-speed 500 is not exactly a kayak reel, but is more of a tuna reel. I have many Accurate reels and love them for tuna, but...

Once the FF shut down, the battery got a chance to "rest" and the voltage came back up to 10+ volts. If you had tried to run the FF again, the battery would have powered it briefly before the unit...

Definitely worth looking into. You can get a home unit at places like Costco, etc. However, the commercial processors use a thicker grade of plastic and pull a harder vacuum so their fish lasts...

Since he was on a long range boat for eight days, he doubtless came back with several hundred pounds of tuna, YT, dorado, and maybe even wahoo. The processors (like Five Star) meet the boat at the...

LJ Parking citation

Fished Lake La Jolla yesterday afternoon. Beautiful weather with a nice downhill current and little wind that went flat calm around 5:00 pm. Heard on the beach that a couple of YT were caught but...

In the OC I have only seen them around August/September, and then not every year. A few years ago they were pretty thick off the DP breakwater, and outside of NP Harbor, just south of the jetty. ...

Hobie Drive

IMHO, people lose their hobie drive precisely because they remove it. Personally, I launch and land using the hobie drive instead of a paddle. I mount and dismount the kayak when the water is about...

MarkT hit it square on. The 690J is a 30# rod, and the ulua is a 40# rod. The more comparable 40# Calstar is the 90J. Both of those Calstars are glass rods and very parabolic. The Ulua will shut off...

The drag seems like it should be about the same (to me, anyway). Both have a transducer in the water. On the rudder, it's mounted a little deeper, but I taped over the cable, so that should minimize...
