For reels, I do not loosen my drags and lightly spray. Back off the drags the following day.
For the yak, my pressure washer does an amazing job.

Had one pestering me one night on my boat out at MDR. I hit it so hard with my 6' Aftco gaff that it bent. That sea Lion didn't bother me anymore.

Why do you want spider crabs? I always caught them as by-catch when lobster hooping King Harbor (inside & out). Gave them all to my Korean mother-in-law. Some were full and some were empty.

What gloves do you use? I have NRS Skeleton gloves. On closeout for $8.95. I love them and just picked up a 2nd pair, but they are difficult to get the stink off after handling fish.
