To load on top of a SUV I carpeted two 8-foot 2x4s with ladder hooks on the end. Makes it easier to slide up on top. But then I got a trailer for the PA to take up even more garage space

I'm sure it has been said before, but mount it on the side OPPOSITE your dominant hand/arm. You want the most range of motion available for your stronger arm

Yep, bleed them right away but also spike the brain to immobilize. The meat bruises easily. If they flop around the bruises make the meat taste gamely and get mushy

Agreed, I always carry a hand pump. My bait pump is at the end of the intake hose that hangs over the side so priming is not a concern
