I had it gooped in before it died. It was a real pain un-gooping it then cleaning it up. I now have have it wet mounted just under my seat of my Outback. Easy to get to, and super easy to replace...

Mine never stopped reading, but would not read past 15 feet or so. It turned out that the ducer died and got it replaced under warranty. Working great now. Good luck.

I did not have much success keeping the PVC plastic glued to the hull, that is when I decided to try the (packing) foam method, and that has been working great! I have it on my Outback and it fits...
