Works well for me

I have a little barrier of putty towards front of yak that I stick my transducer into. Use my bilge pump (super squirter thing) to shoot a few inches of water in there after I launch.

Very happy...

Minimizing gear

I've only been into it for a year, but after a few trips out I realized I was bringing too much gear.

I've given up on fishing two rigs same time for example.

Instead of four poles I will just...

I got my yak last season and have only ever gone out alone.

I see a lot of comments about how it's not safe but I dunno...

There are certain disaster scenarios where a buddy isn't going to make...

So did you find any squid out there?
I haven't made squid from the kayak yet not sure how deep etc. I should be looking around here or even that I'd identify it on the fish finder.

Any tips (I've...

Whitefish

I see a lot of whitefish fishing Channel Islands. The bigger ones put up a good fight more fun than the rockfish that make up majority of catches.

Been told they make great ceviche. I've used it...

Beware

Cthulu is also watching and should you kill a dolphin or dump 400 yards of spectra into the ocean there is no "so be it".

While it may be convenient to have a deity who shoulders your ...

For the record this is not recommended reel maintenance. This will drive water (and salt) deeper into the reel. Better to mist and wipe, and occasionally open/lubricate.

Scupper mount transducer

Just a heads-up: I bought the Lowrance scupper mount transducer kit.
It doesn't fit the 50/200 Khz transducer. I forget the other frequency HDS transducer comes in but if you have the 50/200, forget...

My 2 year old daughter saw this yesterday when it came and said

"Riding a lobster that's ridiculous. Yee haw!"

I laughed pretty hard because I was thinking the exact same thing.

Used it on my rubber boots no problem

Used that exact spray on my Xtra tuffs back when I first got em and was trying to keep em clean.

Didn't react at all with the rubber. (But I got lazy about scrubbing the boots after a trip; today...

Droid MyTracks

Cool.

I've used free Google MyTracks on a Droid to record trips with good results.

Seems on my droid you can run GPS in "airplane mode" which makes a huge difference to battery life. Strangely...

c-tug

I got the C-tug cart with solid tires and am happy with it.

A little pricey, but have had no problems.

A little lube on the small metal bits and the thing should last a long time.

Avoided...

Despire what it says on the packaging, they do not work with all the transducers. (50 vs. 83? I forget which one I've got but it's bigger and doesn't fit)

I use this:
