So I really want to go kayak fishing and my friend has an old school kayak ready to go next weekend. The kayak looks something like this:

is it possible to go out to LJ in one of those? or even a lagoon / bay for that matter? Been surf fishing for a while and want to go out on the water. He is an ex Navy Seal so a decent swimmer if SHTF. What are your thoughts?
