Frayed/sandpapered leader usually means shark. Their skin really does a number on the line. Either that or you got dragged over the rocks. Is your line heavy enough...it's all preference. Some like to use 15# for stuff, look at Dorado50 during the tourney, while others use rope. Fluoro is supposed to be more abrasion resistant than mono, but not all believe in it. For big game fish like yt and wsb most use somewhere between 15-40# line depending on terminal tackle, technique, and personal preference. Straight spectra gets bit at times, but I like the safety cushion of mono or flouro to absorb shock so I don't pull the hook. 25# line sounds fine to me, but experiment and find what is best for you, everyone has different preferences. If you ask different people you'll get different answers.
