Acutally I believe there are differences between Down Imaging and Side Scan. According to Humminbird it states that for DI you can shoot through the hull, but I have read many posts on here where Side scan HAS to be in the water in order to work.

regardless I have seen both the DI and Side Scan in action on a buddies boat. I think I know which system I'm going to get and it will be the best of both worlds.
