It will run you $30 - $40 depending on how much you pay for whatever you buy.
I just got a new eTrex handheld GPS. A year after I bought it, the display started flaking on me... I brought it in, got the new one, and guess what - the 2 year protection on the new unit I just picked up has been reset to start from the day I got the new unit.
You've got to love it.
BTW - if one of those young sales kids in West Marine starts telling you how you need to call the 1-800 number, talk to the insurance company and deal directly with them (just happened to me)... just brush 'em off and go talk to the manager. They'll take care of you, they'll handle everything right there and then. It's true that it is through a separate insurance carrier, but it is West Marine's protection program.
