When I use a spinning setup from a boat or from shore, I often carry multiple spools with different line weights, so I can switch between different techniques and presentations.

On a kayak, the "spinning" parts get in the way, so I switch to a conventional setup.

I don't have any first-hand experience with this idea on a kayak.
