Paddle SW out towards the point and start looking for bait along the kelp as soon as you are outside the reserve line which is (unfortunately) not marked. Turn south and fish along the kelp line as far as you like, keeping in mind that you have to paddle back as far as you came out. Be aware that the current frequently runs south. Watch for bird activity, bait boils, and clusters of boats. With luck, the birds will start crashing right next to you. If you see birds crashing in the distance with power boats gunning towards them, the YT will probably be gone by the time you get there. That's life in La Jolla.
