I bought an etrex legend from REI used it for several months for hiking biking kayaking but it had a weak antenna and would lose signal in any kind of tree cover and in heavy cloud cover. (they may have upgraded the antenna by now i dunno)
REI let me return it and upgrade no questions asked to an etrex legend HCX. I love it and would highly recommend it. I would also recommend REI as there return policy and service is awesome.
