Check the rating of your split rings

Be careful with the split rings! In tensile strength they test way lower than the solid rings. The tensile strength correlates to the size of the ring. I tested a berkley split ring (on a tensile test machine) about 1/2 " diameter and it failed at around 85 pounds. Bottom-line: Make sure you check the tensile strength of the split ring that you use so that you don't have a premature failure.
