Fresh water kayak rinse

Every once in a while its nice to wash off the kayak of all that La Jolla salt and sand and fish slime with some fresh water. I'd never taken the 'yak on a road trip so I thought some Sierra Nevada fresh water might do the trick. I've done a lot of exploring up and down the 395 so for this trip I thought I'd try the west side.

This looks promising.

Arriving 'downtown', this place looks about right.

Have to make sure they have all the proper amenities. No problem with that.

Time to gear up and hit the water. Its nice to give the bait tank and braided line a rest and get out the small stuff for a change.

With no bait and tackle shop in town to hit up for local knowledge, I was on my own. They've got to be out here somewhere.

I'm not much of a trout fisherman. I can hardly tell the difference between a Royal Coachman and a Thomas Buoyant. But fish are fish and they all behave like fish, more or less. So after scouting around likely fishy habitats, I had some dinner in hand, so to speak.

Back to camp, waiting for the grill to heat up, I took the time to rinse myself off with some ice cold Sierra Nevada fresh water.
