The problem is that the people who need to be a part of something like the MPA have virtually nobody standing up against them. A few people dressed in shorts and T-shirts can't be loud enough to stop them (but I do applaud them being there)
. A group or (dare I say) a lobby needs to be formed to unite the recreational and commercial fishermen - not just here in Ca. but nationwide who will go to battle for whichever coastline or lake is threatened for closure to fishing - especially if they can't produce data to support their cause.
I find it hard to believe there isn't one out there already.? I'm really new to this sport and there's a lot I still don't know but if there is a group out there like this I'll be happy to join and make my monthly donations so all of our kids can enjoy the water.
