Steve, I'd be super interested to explore that area more than I have. The reef you are talking about is visible from google maps. Its about a 6.5 mile round trip paddle from the public ramp in MDR
to the reef.
Also, there is some leftover breakwall in
Santa Monica that is rumored to be holding some tank Cali's. Shouldn't be too bad of a beach launch from SM, but it would be hell to land once the beach traffic picks up....
