PB YELLOWTAIL RELEASE

The ONE that got away...

-New Personal Best 43# Yellowtail Catch & Release-

After my long awaited battle with a fifty class Homeguard, I vowed never to harvest another of that caliber or bigger.
(The downside to such exploits is the constant feeling of the inevitable downhill Seriola-search looming over oneself,
So, it's business as usual trying to earn Karma points.)
As lightning sometimes strikes twice, I actually had a chance to get real close at besting the ol' Dr. just last week.
Headed out with Zac & Mike, quick on the fly change of plans before our Halibut pound session began. With the recent Humboldts swarming our coastline, I knew someone would get real hungry, & hungry was he. All 43 Pounds of him.Rock solid & beat me to a pulp. Finally got him to the surface and my custom rig just had too much after our prolonged fight. Leader snaps and still lethargic as he, (Well both of us at this point!) I quickly lip-gripped my first free swimming Yellowtail!
This posting will be on the shorter side, because I cannot accurately put into written words, the feeling that overcomes me when releasing these wrist-snapping Homeguards wave goodbye with their hind quarters at high speeds.. You can however, hear me genuinely scream giddily at the end of this video, clearly audible through my video camera's waterproof microphone, as I release this King back into the depths from five feet below the Oceans surface.
He never looked back once, but kicked out a serious plankton dust storm off into the canyons to tell the 'tail' of "The Fluorocarbon"..

Please Support Catch & Release of the BIG ones!

For size reference, heres a shot where his head is up front and the tail extends past behind me off the PA..
