It's hard to be a fisherman and stay under the recommended allowances of various fish according to the state of Florida. I am also constantly consuming more than recommended and who knows of the side effects? The owner of one of the local tackle shops was hospitalized for mercury poisoning. I suspect he was eating too much swordfish. Luckily that one is a bit too far offshore for me to target on the kayak. I would suspect the lobster and yellowtail taken on a long-range trip can safely be consumed in larger quantities than those recommended for fish from local waters, that said you probably can skip the mercury test.
