Talking La Jolla 6-16-19-26 & 7-3-2017

Ok so I got one on my birthday Friday the 16th, then next three trips are skunks other than bait. The one i got was south in shallow water over heavy kelp and boiling bait. The next there trips I got plenty of good greenbacks for bait and cover all the same areas to the north, west and south but NADA. On the 26th it took a little longer to get bait and as I'm heading south a guy asking for radio check and if anybody is having any luck, tells me he got a WSB in 60' by the condo. Cool, but I'm just passing the Condo at the Cove and I don't see anybody at that depth. As I get further south I'm coming up on a couple kayaks I saw at the launch and notice a third guy coming from the south and he standing on the kayak for an on the water photo holding a large fish. As I get close I ask him if he's the guy with the WSB and he tells me that now he has two and the second one is a real fatty. He point south east and I say, OH you mean the second Condo, good that's were I was going because that is were I caught my last Yellowtail. I head south and as I had expected the Fog comes in hard and the wind picks up. Every one appears to bail out and I stick it out. Can't even see 40 yards and it getting really bumpy. After a few more hours of trolling in the area and heading back north, the fog is so bad I even pass up the Cove. I was using my GPS all the time and started to to not trust my compass. In the end it finally cleared up at the Cove and I could see that the compass was correct the whole time. No visibility and choppy condition were not fun. Today the weather could not have been better. Made ten nice greenbacks in a fairly short time and trolled over the south edge of the canyon and then headed south once the really large parking lot west of the Cove started to break up. Went south and covered the area south of The second Condo and trolled back on the outside edge of the kelp forest. Never got any bites but The frickin sealions stole 4 macs and lost a couple more in the kelp. So even though there have been some fish landed on some days, i did not see any landed today. The radio was unusually quite today, even tried listening to the channels used by boats out west checking out the banks and almost did not hear anything. So here is a shortened video of the last Yellow I landed on June 16th. I though some might want to remember what we look for. Enjoy the short FISH PORN!.........https://youtu.be/FsPYCaPbsrA
