Transient pods of orcas move through So Cal periodically. They were off Dana a few years ago, as I kid I saw some off Point Loma, a buddy of mine has even seen orcas in the Mid Rift area of the Sea of Cortez. They never seam to stay in one area very long. Maybe they just skim the easy pickings and move on. It would be nice if they hung around LJ for a while and pillaged the dog population. I wonder if the insane seal gals would call for their eradication for hurting the cute little seals.

Shark populations are so low while pinniped are so high its much more likely that El Ninos, demoic acid, and disease will control pinniped numbers.
