LawDog is so right!!
During my news interviews I repeatedly stressed several times the importance of being safe, but they cut them all out. A trip like this should not be attempted without planning, a partner, proper gear, and safety oriented thinking! So I will stress it again here, maybe it will save someone from a bad situation. If you are new to the sport be especially careful and don't take chances, partner up with someone experienced. It is a LONG paddle out there and back, I'm not saying don't go, just saying please be safe and remember... You are not within easy reach of shore, if something goes wrong it will go quickly, keep your PDF on and fastened!
Just a couple weeks ago myself and another very accomplished kayaker spent 45 minutes rescuing a self proclaimed Avid kayak fisherman right in LJ! If not for his PFD it would have ended differently I think. No fish is worth getting hurt!
For those that do choose to go off shore, good luck and be safe!
