White Sea bass fishing malibu.

Hi everyone. I normally kayak fish Malibu quite a bit and was just curious about how others like to fish it. Right now i normally head out of leo carrillo and fish Nicholas canyon area for WSB. So far i have only caught juveniles using green backs and dropper looped whole squid. Does anyone have and tips or tricks that have found that really works well in this area. Rigging, pound test, number of lines, baits, DEPTH, etc. Anything and everything is welcomed! Also does anyone have an idea of what depth the WSB and or halibut are at this time of year?
Thanks,
Johnny

Sure anyone will tell you the same - just keep fishing.

You are doing the right things... I mean try a carolina rig vs dropper loop I feel like its more natural presentation/better to troll but both will catch fish. Also could deadstick a glow jig with whole dead squid or two as you are paddling around slowly trolling greenbacks which helps cover whole water column until you zero in on the fish. Best advice is cover water and log hours. They arent called Ghosts for no reason.

I guess you could just jump in and shoot them or something or just try whispering "here fishy fishy"

Thanks for the help. When using a Carolina rig what size weight do you usually use. Do you have your weight on the bottom or put it mid column?

Honestly depends... current intensity, how fast I am paddling, what type of bait but normally for most conditions, with a greenie, start with 2oz go from there

Did you catch the squid yourself? I wasn't aware they were around right now. Any tips on how to find them?
Thanks

Your asking for the map to One Eye Wille's Treasure when ever you bring up white sea bass...then your asking for his daughters hand in marriage when you use the word Malibu.

Look for previous posts on the site.
Build a network.
Watch the charter numbers.
Look around on youtube about set ups and info.

Then put in 10x the time on the water you think you need to.

Thanks for the input.
