Red crab invasion

Day one @ LJ the tuna crab are everywhere and bait was elusive for me today. Got a late start around 7 and could not find a single Mac . Off I went in search for surface action, creep up on a few boils first cast over the sweet spot and bingo. Not as big as the May bite, but I'll mark this one off as my first yak surface iron bite . Hope to produce tmrw...

Nice one! Way to adapt and seek out your own fish!
I wonder if pinning a little crawdad on would just kill it out there...like a giant res crab!

Nice job! Was out Thursday and the crabs were everywhere. Seemed to shut down the fishing... Did you happen to cut open its stomach? Curious about how much these yellows are feasting on the crabs?

Yeah I was out there today and pretty much same.
Nice catch on the iron, way to adapt and land your first iron yellow! Also curious if you checked the guts?

Opened a Yellow a month or so back during the last crab infestation and it was loaded with crabs. The meat was pink and really tasty.

Very slow day for me out there. Bait was was few and far between. Not even a short bite today. Did see one giant pile of chovies with working birds in the AM, but couldn't find anything below them. Seemed slow for everyone else as well. Heard one dude hooked a yellow early but didn't see it. And didn't see anyone hooked up all day.

It's the red invasion, they're still there. Saturday afternoon and today Monday was easy to make bait but no one wanted the greenies except, (you know) those Fu***ng seals. They ate 8 out of 10 greenies I caught for bait. Very persistent one got 3 at different times and I never saw him coming around, one he took while I was protecting it at the side on my kayak. He came from underneath and from the opposite side. Very sneaky Bastard!

Thanks for the iron ID. Does tady even make those AA lights any more? I have 2 and I love em. A bit hard to cast on a heavier jig stick but the action is great. I've found that by cranking half a rotation fast and the other half slow the AAs will do sort of a sub surface "walk the dog". Can't seam to make the bigger light irons do that. Haven't tried it with YT really but calicos seam to like that retrieve. Mike
