2011 Species Wrap Up

Decided to keep track of how many species I could get this year. Thought it would be cool to catch as many species, as how many years old I am. I needed 32. Might be easy now, a bit more of a challenge once I turn like 60.

Here they are, not really organized. I have a few size upgrades on a few species, but decided to keep the pic of the first of each species I caught.

Here they are in no particular order

Salt Bass

Calico

Spot

Sand

Johnny

Perch

Barred

Walleye

Pile

Halfmoon

Bait

Spanish

Green

Sardine

Smelt

Some sort of sculpin?

Rockfish

Red

Bocaccio

Sheep

Bank Perch

Mexican

Green?

Starry?

Sculpin

Chili

Brown?

Ling

Croakers

WSB

Queen?

Black

Flatfish

Dab

Hali

Freshwater

Bass

Bluegill

Brown

Rainbow

Brook

Sharks

Guitar

Smooth hound?

Leopard

Bluefin

Misc that don’t count.

Market

Humboldt

Sea Cock

Krill

Octopus

Cucumber

Turtle

Crab

Reef

That’s all. I also got anchovy, but no pic = BS, so I cant count it.

Completely new species for me this year were:
BSB
Leopard
Pile
Johnny
Pile
Bluefin

I’m always really stoked to get a new species. One of the coolest things about the ocean is the variety of fish, you never know what could be on the end of your line.

One fish that eluded me this year in a bad bad way, were those pesky yellowtail. I didn’t down to LJ that much, and when I did I heard a lot of “You should have been here yesterday”. I hear they are all chewy and nasty anyways, and guys just throw them back, so its no big deal I guess…
