Fishing log?

If you have a fishing log, please share what type.

I have been jotting down my fishing info but need to get it organized using a tool that will easily give me statistical, trend data.

I can easily put together an Excel spreadsheet for most info but need to easily incorporate the tide info.

Specifically I need something that will track/show me time of catch vs. tides.

What do you use?

Thanks guys, Matt

Talking Ive dropped plenty of logs.

oh the written kind!

I keep a Notebook issued to me when I got promoted way back when. each day I go out I write down the following.

date
location
time launched
temps air / water
sunrise / set
moon phase
high low and slack tide times
what was caught,length and girth
gps# of catch / depth of water
bait used
set up

yes its a short book about, 1/2 a page so don't bother to ask for a copy.

I actually like this. The log I was using was one that DFG gave out at the Fred Hall show, and I have been keeping a photo log of it as well.

Hey Stinky? You can import photos into excel also right? I think I will encorperate all of what I'm doing by writing down and photo and make a spreadsheet. It will help me be more in tune with my fishing.

Fishing Deluxe and Fishing Calendar are a couple for iphone. The apps provide, weather, tides, surise/set times and a few other things. They also let you log information about each catch including GPS and a photo of what you caught. You can also view a map marking each catch.

Fishing Deluxe lacks tide info, but has some things fishing Calendar does not. They both work well for logging.

I use word. created a table and track this info:
New Moon dates
Full Moon dates
sun rise
moon set
sun set
moon rise
Tidal events
Notes: what I was fishing for and caught.

Days I fish I "add a row" and complete the data above for the day.

Full and New moon data: http://www.calendar-365.com/moon/moon-phases.html
Solar/lunar link for rise/set data: http://aa.usno.navy.mil/data/docs/RS_OneYear.php
Tide’s link: http://www.myforecast.com/bin/tide_extended.m?city=11657&zip_code=92629&metric=false&tideLocationID=null

I'm/we are Probably way over-thinking it.
