Putting a sibiki on is the easiest for the little ones IMO. Haven't started him kayaking yet.

When my children started out I used a cut down Sabiki rig with a 1/2oz weight on the pier and would tip the hooks with a small amount of squid.
To bring in the fish I would take a can of $1 mackerel from the supermarket freeze it and put it in an old sock lowered down on a rope to chum up the area. In five minutes it would be loaded with jacksmelt. Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk |
