That one of me was just a 50# bat ray. Got the hook out and let him go.
Got a pic some where. Also some 5' shovelnose from the surf. Lots of those. Haven't hit a big hali yet, but they ARE there. Hoping for a thresher ride some day like my friend got out at the kelp beds... Here's my story-here in Carp is a Bait and Tackle shop called Danny's Deli- Danny is a gruff old ex-commercial fisherman, cool but gruff if you know what I mean. Well his best friend and old fishing partner in crime is Rodney,my next door neighbor, psuedo GrandDad to my boys and great hunter, anyway with his help and GENEROSITY, I have become absolutely obsessed with fishing, for example, that pole in the surf pics is a 10' Roddy built, 50 years old, given to Rodney 20 years ago when his fishing buddy died. When Chin at Hook line and Sinker saw it, he said it should be in a museum. He said fish it with honor-it has soul.....my 1st fish on it was a short hali on the 2nd cast. Every time I go fish Rodney is there for me.... So thats how it all started last Feb. Now I have 20 plus poles tons of fishing stuff and two fishing yaks, whew Looking forward to tearing it up with Matt-hoping to learn a lot.... |
