Year's biggest "SLAM"
Once you have caught all three species post your pictures here, and tally the points. Upgrade as needed throughout the year. |

I'll go first. 8)
A pair of 24lb fish, one YT and one WSB, both on bait. And a 19lb but, on the swimbait. Which I believe is 98 pts, 99 with the artificial bonus (not sure if that is in play here). Hope to upgrade all three, sooner rather than later. UPDATE: Lets bump that WSB up a bit. 43.2lb. Bring the total to 127.5 (I think). UPDATE: Bump up the YT to 31.7lb. On the iron. Bring the total to 136.5 (but check the math). UPDATE: Hali got bigger. 26lb even. Which I believe makes 149.5. UPDATE: 48lb WSB, on the Kroc. Bring it to 158. And for the grand slam, 20lb dorado. 218 |

I never would have bet on it
My fish count for January is better than I have done the first 1/2 of some years. Hope it means we all will have amazing stories to tell this year.
19 pound halibut New Year's Day on a trap rigged greenback 30 pound YT Boiling YT erupting all around in glassy waters, just amazing Threw a heavy iron on the surface and finally got one to go. 34 pound white seabass Slow grind off the bottom, three cranks and BENDO! I have only caught one other WSB on the iron ad that was 5 long years ago. I have never caught one in January. Since we are scoring the artificial bonus, it stands to reason that it should count here as well. 121 points yeehah! upgrade on the WSB 40 pounds 2 oz 129 points

My turn
1st of the three, and my largest 2006 'but so far at 11 lbs (live sardine):
My first yellow this year going 34 lbs (live mackeral): My 50 lb white (live mackeral): Let's see 22+34+75=132 total points. Of course as soon as she gets her yellow, which she will, Julie will blow my total away. With her white and halibut she already has 142 points.

A white sea bass of 33 lbs, caught on May 11th, on a live mackeral: Yellowtail, caught on July 5th, weighing 15 lbs, on a live mackeral: 92+1+49.5+15=157.5 Total Points

Re: Julie's slam submission
being a BWE newbie, this is the first i've learned of the WCW trny, and the first time i've ever seen this thread.
this thread certainly shows WHO the REAL yak fisher-people are in SD. (i can't say fisherMEN, because Julie outfishes 99% of us wannabees) congrats to all of you guys for those amazing fish pictured above !! 8) Adi, every time i see the pics, i still can't believe how MAMMOTH that Mexico WSB is. truly spectacular.

OK, i wasn't actually entered in WCW 2006, and i'm certainly not in the MAJOR LEAGUES of 'yak fishing as are all the others above in this thread.....
BUT, i caught my first 2 WSB ever in 2006, thus it was the first year i've ever even achieved a "SLAM". so i had to enter it here.... sorta like my own personal MINOR LEAGUE SLAM - LOLOL White Sea Bass: C&R = 15 points Halibut: C&R + Artificial Bait = 16 points Yellowtail: 33 lbs = 33 points TOTAL SLAM = 64 points certainly not great, but hey..... i finished 8th in this contest !!! OK, OK - i know there were only 7 other total entrants here, so technically i also finished DEAD LAST !! but i like the sound of: "i finished 8th in this contest" better..... so that's my story, and i'm sticking to it. .
