Lowrance update

I just wanted to pass along an update that came out yesterday.

Anyone with a mark 4 hdi, elite 4 hdi, elite 5 hdi, elite 5 CHIRP, elite 7 hdi, or elite 7 CHIRP, you should check out the update.

Better mapping options, sonar log enhancements, and general software and performance improvements.

This is the link to the update

No problem Bob. The crew left for abreojos a couple of days ago without me. Took on a new position at work and couldn't abandon my job for 10 days. Withdrawals from baja are setting in for sure. If I can make the October trip. Mike and I will probably drive down in my truck. I'll keep you updated if I can make it.

They're all kayak capable? Not sure I understand your question. I personally have an elite 5 hdi.

I was hoping they would have integrated it. Which maps are you using? A version of navionics?

navionics costal. I have the gold on the HDI 5
over at Bd in the socal section under the MLPA there is a post titled something like mlpas for your chartplotter by Dean Bankrobber. He took the time to create all the mlpas as tracks/waypoints and shared them. I was able to import them into my FF and it works great. It amazes me that he can do it but a multi-million dollar company like Navico cant for something that they charge for.

It appears to be on their web app http://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en#products/Gold so it should be on their cards..

Maybe you need Nav+ to get it

Brandon, thanks for the post. I utilize the elite-4 hdi on my yak and was able to download latest version onto a micro SD card, but that is as far as I got. Can you help by explaining the uploading process once the card is inserted into the slot in the FF. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

you need to unzip the update on your pc 1st then copy the file to your sd card. make sure ff is off insert card and turn on it should update automatically.
when done take the card out and delete the update and reinsert it then turn on you should be good to go.

Is there a reason you have to delete the update from card? To save space? What I just did was downloaded update to card and inserted in FF. When upload was done I just pulled the chip out, turned on unit and inserted card while the unit was on.

Will it now try to update everytime I turn on?

Mine read the update every time I turned it on and updated go figure
so I just deleted it from my card. As far as the MLPA's maybe because I already have the areas marked off as tracks I cant see the included data. it looks like the lines are fine compared to the bold tracks(see image below). I will try to look at the FF and turn off the tracks and see if it is there.
