La Jolla 5/30 - Kayak Fishing Adventures on Big Water’s Edge

Had a fun day out on Tuesday, had the day off to stretch out to a 4 day weekend. My fishing time on the kayak has been non existent this year. First trip was Sunday and second trip was this one on tuesday. I caught this in 115 feet of water off of the condo. My largest keeper from the kayak. It was a little unsettling, in a good way, to see this come up kayak side. Gaffed it, kept it in the water, secured the game clip, then jammed it into the center hatch. The halibut did not freak out.
Measured out at 40 inches and 33 pounds.

Funny I was just telling a friend I got raked by a 30lb plus halibut...at first i thought another soupfin, didn't have a trap hook on my dropper loop, after examining the teeth marks
On my mackerel I thought halibut, put another mackerel on, no time to change rigs dropped another mackerel down and had him on again but never got the hook in him 90ft of water west of the big motel, I could see it on my graph.it was like I could see what was going on down there in my brain...good for you.
