The rubber around it ripped so the wire ripped after some time. But I did go out without the idler cable and it worked fine, so not sure what it really does because I didn't notice a difference.

Andy's price is a good one buy it from him...If you fish a lot your gonna bust it again keep a spare and some wrenches in a dry bag...
