Kind of playing with an ideal

The tail end will be weighted so the nose and wings are in the air weather on the kite or wineing on a rod hopefully. I payed 50 cents a piece for the big j hooks I'm expecting them to go up in price. Going to make it so galvanized hooks are replaceable weather, molded into the lure or not. It's going to be awhile before I'm done....and this post will sink into the archives before it will be brought back up. Something for me to look forward to and thanks to all that share fishing reports ect. A small bird frozen will fall dead from a bough before ever feeling sorry for it self and broken wings shall be replaceable, so it may sore again.

I put a 1 1/2 inch band of laminating resin and cloth.

To keep aluminum tail from cracking out, it's supported with 2 pins

RIP Tom Petty..... his music still Rocks! Plasiti-Dip is a cool product -- use it to blackout/protect stainless steel fittings on the yak. Creative idea to make a tail out of it. I would be concerned that it might make the lure helicopter. Staying tuned.......

My concerns were cutting 100 lb braid line, if there's a tangle. Hopefully lure doesn't slide past the swivel on the 500 lb wire rope. The adrenaline is always high testing a new lure. A rush you might say. Can always scrape off.
I forgot I'll be running a topshot of 200lb Mono, before the 100lb braid 🙃

The magpie wahoo jaw braker lure helicoptered

Because the nose was to long it took to much force to pull it through the water 💧 but I think I can make it work by shortening up the nose, patch job you might say.
The tip of the rod really dances 💃 with that series

Kind of like a slot car 🚗

A one shot race made to fly apart but you just hope it stays on the track 👣
I would be happy if I could get close to the success of the spruce goose

It’s looking a lot better than last week.

I’d suggest dropping that treble and hanging a double hook off the tail, loose with just a band holding it. Maybe ditch the tail and run the leader through the lure with the double hook out the back and wrap some feathers on it to give it volume to mimic a tail

We shall see....

Yes good ideas I thought about skirt tails it would help to make lure track straight.
I'm thinking the force of a big cow would destroy a lure with our brake away gear and smaller ones will be hooked on the side. Big tuna would've shallow the whole thing maybe. Testing Testing Testing
Its got to be right you might only get one shot at a big cow if your lucky. I'm trying to be as realistic as I can. I can remember trolling through big tuna, big foamers on the surface when we had boats over 25yrs ago and they would not touch our jewelry.
