When I had my other Kayak I've used the those rod holders in the seat at Mammoth Lakes while trout fishing' I pack a small plano box with trout gear trout rods in rod holders and I'm off fishing. No need for crates and all that other stuff.
Makes for easy set up and the ultimate "travel Lite" set-up especially if your car topping the kayak to a lake or between lakes.
