Take what I say with a grain of salt, as I'm still a noob and waiting to get my yak, but I'm familiar with the area.
Long Beach, Huntington Beach and Seal Beach aren't too far from there. Newport is a little more south. Other than that, someone else will have to chime in! Have fun.
